August 9, 2008 was riding with the Summerville Cyclists.
It was a large group of all levels starting from "Jumpin' Juice and Java" (Hwys 642 and 165).

The Summerville Cyclists want everyone to wear a helmet on the rides.

The Summerville group is very cordial and fun. We had one flat and the whole group stopped or waited.

I had done a lot of these roads with the Summerville Cyclists earlier in this year and late last year.

It seems that "we've" been doing races or organized centuries from Charleston to Tennessee every weekend.
We didn't ride as many local rides because of obligations and other rides.

Strong riders were in the long and shorter rides.
You can see that I often pull myself out of the rotation and  drop to the rear to get a shot.

Early on you could not see who was pulling the train. It was Luke.

Later it was anybody that would and could.

Some took a turn and put in 7 extra miles. I fell in with this bunch. The riders regroup very often.
The pic above and below were taken within seconds of each other.
Never was there a lot of time spent this way.

These riders were just regrouping. As you can see there is no car coming.
Most of our time on the road was pent all in a big "line".

In most of these pictures you can see the riders were in line.
There was no danger.
Trying to explain this was futile.

There were a lot of strong riders who all knew where the sprints were.
I knew, somewhere, some guys would be making everybody hurt and heart rate monitors max out.

No cars were seen on many of the roads but the paceline was usually straight as an arrow.

I believe on this occasion some riders were slowing on a hill, and we were passing.
There is a rider in the other lane but this was not the norm. Perhaps he was just going around someone quickly.
But to say he's absolutely wrong we don't really know.
But the storm had calmed enough for me to take the picture.
But to take even the above picture and say "that shouldn't be done" doesn't tell the story.
It's not safe, a good idea, or habit to be on the other side of the road.
I'm saying also that the guys were safe and if they crossed any center line it was brief.

These guys were well behaved. The norm was safe riding.

I have no problem with these two guys riding side by side.
The road is straight and flat with nothing moving in the distance yet the "line" is straight.
The duo can see far enough ahead that that can speak for a moment.
I can't be seriously told by a club that I can never ride side by side at anytime ever.
My pictures I share but if you want to tell a story about some pictures then take your own pictures.
Tell us a story about your ride. Don't tell me about the experience I had on my ride.

The ride was a lot of fun. Defending my pictures and the kind cyclists in them has not been fun.
I wanted to set the record straight but the more I tried, the more I was ignored it seemed.
I felt my concern for the truth was dismissed.
There isn't a perfect bike ride.
Let's all be safe and whenever you're in doubt, be safe.

At Jumpin' Juice & Java, the riders buy it all from healthy shakes and bagels to coffee.

For me, I like the "spicy tuna bagel", espresso, and versions of the ride.

Life is good!

As for the guy who hinted that I was childish-
I know you you are but what am I?
Nyah, nyah, nyah, infinity.
